What is the Ember Cold Tumbler?
The Cold Tumbler is a 16 oz (473 ml) double-wall glass tumbler for iced coffee, cold brew, tea, sparkling water, and everyday cold drinks. It comes with a 2-way lid you can sip from directly or use with a straw, plus Sandstone lid and base bumpers.
Does it heat or cool my drink?
No. Unlike the Ember Mug and the heated Ember Tumbler, the Cold Tumbler has no battery, no heater, and nothing to charge. It does not pair with the Ember app. It is a well-made glass tumbler designed to keep cold drinks cooler for longer and to reduce condensation.
Is it the same as the Ember Tumbler?
No, and the similar names trip people up. The Ember Tumbler is our 16 oz heated, app-connected stainless steel mug. The Cold Tumbler is glass, unpowered, and made for cold drinks only.
Is it glass or plastic?
The vessel is borosilicate glass, the same type of glass used in laboratory glassware and high-quality cookware. It preserves the clean taste of whatever you pour. The lid and straw are made of high quality plastic and silicone and the base bumper is silicone.
How does it keep drinks cold?
The Cold Tumbler has two walls of glass with an air gap between them. That gap slows the transfer of heat from your hand and the room into your drink, so ice lasts longer than in a single-wall glass and the outside stays drier.
Will it sweat or get condensation?
Much less than a single-wall glass, but some condensation can appear with very cold drinks in warm or humid rooms. That is normal for double-wall glass and is not a sign of a problem with your tumbler.
Can I put hot drinks in it?
The Cold Tumbler is designed for cold drinks. We don't recommend hot liquids.
Is it leak proof?
No. The 2-way lid keeps splashes down while you carry it and sip, but it is not sealed for lying on its side, going in a bag, or being tipped over. Treat it like a glass with a lid, not like a sealed bottle. See Your Cold Tumbler Lid, Straw, and Seal for how the lid is designed to work.
Does it come in colors?
The tumbler itself is clear glass and always ships with Sandstone lid and base bumpers. You can change the look with the Cold Tumbler Accessory Kit, which swaps the lid and base bumper for one of six colors: Matcha Green, Sage Green, Lavender, Powder Blue, Pink Grapefruit, and Salt Blue. Does the straw have a cover?
The straw is open at the top. When you are not using the straw, the 2-way lid lets you sip directly.
